I've been crafting. I made the above frame for a friends birthday, she went to San Diego.
This frame I sold at a benefit for Brittneys Battle.

This one I made for our engagement picture.
I have also been making soldered jewelry. It is really fun and way cute. I made this necklace for my friend Marys birthday. The best part about these necklaces is that you can put any picture in them from your favorite Disney character to a family picture. I also like to add charms.

Silver Lake

MOOOOOSE!!! I was so excited to see this cute sopping wet moose. He was so adorable.
We stopped by silver lake today with the family after dropping Annie off at Brighton. It was so beautiful the colors were absolutely gorgeous. It had been raining so it was misty and just picturesque. And we spotted a moose!

Here is my cute family on the spooky dock. Who knows what was lurking below. I felt like any moment we might be visited by the creature from the black lagoon.

Carrot Cake recipe

MMMM........ Carrot Cake. I got this recipe from a friend and decided to try it. It was delicious!
I used macadamia nuts and toasted coconut on top yum!
  • 4 eggs
  • 3/4 cup canola oil
  • 1/2 cup applesauce
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 3 cups grated carrots
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (or any nuts)
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 4 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan.
  2. In a large bowl, beat together eggs, oil, sugars and 2 teaspoons vanilla. Mix in flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Stir in carrots. Fold in pecans. Pour into prepared pan.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.
  4. To Make Frosting: In a medium bowl, combine butter, cream cheese, confectioners' sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Stir in chopped pecans. Frost the cooled cake.

Happy 1st Anniversary in Omaha

Over our Anniversary I had to work. So Adam came with me. We stayed in Omaha. It was a ton of fun! Matt and Lisa (and Hobbes) are going to be moving here in a year. Matt got into Creighton and will start there for his second year of dental school (his first year is here at the U). So it was fun to see the city where they will be living. We walked around the "old market" part of town. It was full of restaurants and cute little shops. There was also a beautiful park/river running through town that was fun to see.

Here we are getting ready to go out. The cute jewelry I'm wearing Adam gave me for out anniversary. The set is totally adorable and the bracelet says "I Love you," cute!
We went to a cute little bakery to celebrate our anniversary and ordered 4 desserts! I know we went a little overboard, right? But we had to have it all! A peanut butter cookie, key lime mousse pie, extremely rich chocolate napoleon, and delicious coffee cake. Lisa we'll come visit you any time as long as you take us here!
