Thank you so much for all the sweet comments. We really appreciated them especially after leaving, it was nice to come home to. Leaving Zaidee was so so hard, we're praying we'll be back soon. Introducing Miss Zaidee. She is ours forever! I am rocking her to sleep as I type, she's sucking her thumb noisily (partly because she is so congested) and her eyes are barley open. Adam and I are in heaven. I think we've kissed her a million times. Honestly I don't know how we're going to leave tomorrow. For those of you not in the adoption world Ethiopia requires two trips, with anywhere from 2-4 months in between trips. Please pray for us that we can get this little one home soon she turns 4 months in two days and weighs 9 lbs. We love her so much! Thank you so much for all your prayers. Heavenly Father has blessed us so much. I look at her and I am in awe that he has given us such a huge blessing. She is such a sweet precious little girl xoxo

We got news yesterday that we have a court date! This weekend we will be leaving for Ethiopia and January 26th we will be in court. We are sooooooo excited! Zaidee here we come x0Xo

Match Day!

Thursday was Adam's match day for Ophthalmology Residency. Adam was on an overnight with me in Ontario, CA. He had a transitional year interview there that day. We woke up at 4am to find out if he had matched or not via email. Then we couldn't get back to sleep! We were so anxious all morning. We went down to get something to eat and were just staring at the phone. Adam interviewed at 10 places so we could've literally gone anywhere. Adam ran to the bathroom and low and behold the phone started ringing! I couldn't believe it, it was an 801 number! I ran to get Adam and as soon as he looked at the phone he got a huge grin on his face and we both started freaking out after he got the good news that he matched at the University of Utah! We are so excited we get to stay in Utah another 4 years. They have an automatic match into their transitional year program so Adam cancelled his interview and we went out and played all afternoon! It was so fun. I'm so proud of Adam he has worked so hard for this. I love ya sweetie xoxo

We have another new nephew! Zae Thomas was born November 30th and weighed 5'11. Zae is so sweet and tiny, he has blond hair and the most beautiful eyes. He is super mellow and cuddly. I'm so excited for Zaidee to have so many cousins! She had four new cousins born this year. This is where she falls Bridget 8/19, Eleanor 9/18, Xander 11/2 Zaidee 9/28, and Zae 11/30. So fun! He was such a good sport and totally posed for the camera!

GIRL! We have a daughter! Zaidee Mae is two months old and absolutely beautiful! She has big brown eyes and gorgeous lips! She has curly black hair and the most adorable tiny toes and fingers! We are absolutely in love! We got the call on Sunday, my sisters and grandma were over for dinner, I was in the guest room when Adam came running in he had a huge smile on his face and was brimming with excitement! When he said Sheila was on the phone I immediately started shaking. I jumped on the computer and went to my email. When we opened the email we were just in awe! She is so beautiful and tiny! We should be going for our first trip to Ethiopia the end of January for court. I can't post pictures until she is legally ours so hold tight til then. Also there have been some delays in Ethiopia so please pray with us that we will have her home before we move for residency.

Well i didn't officially write anything to tell y'all my new nephew was born November 2nd. I came out to help watch my niece Lizzy while mommy and baby recovered from this scheduled c-section. I've had a lot of fun with Lizzy and I can tell you she loves her new brother! She is so excited for him to come home. Xander is doing really well, he is super sleepy but that is to be expected.

It has been four months since our dossier arrived in Ethiopia! We are so excited, our agency let us know that things have slowed down a bit and that we can expect about a 6 month wait from the time our dossier was received in Ethiopia. So that means in two months we could have a referral! To celebrate we went to an Ethiopian restaurant in Denver (We are out here to see my new nephew) that had excellent reviews. The food was awesome, I seriously loved it! When I first tried Ethiopian food I was not a fan, but this place won Adam and me over! If you live in the area or are going to be traveling to Denver, you've got to try it, my favorites were the yateklit wat, miser wat, and atar wat. Happy 4 months!!!

Yellowstone

We went to Yellowstone for the weekend, it was so nice to get away and relax! Yellowstone is one of my favorite vacation spots. It is so beautiful and there is always more to see. The fall is the perfect time to go, it is a bit chilly, but the park is so beautiful and it is not crowded. We saw lots of buffalo, and elk. But we didn't stay long enough to track down a bear!

St George Marathon

I ran the St George Marathon again this year, it was way HOT but a lot of fun! It was my best marathon yet. I didn't have to stop at the bathrooms and I ran it in 3:47! Adam's family came down to support me and Adam made me this really cute shirt. It says "Baby on the Way!...147 Million Orphans Minus One." Our adoption agency is located there, so we got to visit with them. They said referrals are slowing down but that we can still expect a referral around 6 months of our dossier being sent in. (its been 3 months!)

Adam has officially started interviewing for Ophthalmology residency. He got this new suit for his birthday and he looks so sharp in it. "Where will you guy's go?" many of you have asked. Well, we literally could go anywhere in the country. Adam has applied to 54 programs. They say to have the best chance of matching you need to put in about 50 applications. Luckily Ophthalmology is an early match so we will find out soon enough and let you know in January.
My friend Lindsey and I ran a half marathon a few weeks ago and I set a new PR 1:56. And I ran it in Vibrams. I was a big skeptic of the barefoot running, but I'm really loving them! I was a big heel striker and it has really helped my running posture.
My sister was in town from Omaha for a month and my sister Karen and I had a shower for her. she is due September 15. She got a lot of really cute things and a sweet blessing dress.

We met up with our friends Heather and Danny for a weekend in Vegas. It was a lot of fun! We swam, went to the Titanic exhibit, and the Rio buffet. Here are some pics of the cuties.

And last but definitely not least we got a new niece last month! Bridget Elayne was born August 19th. I can't wait to see her, and take some pics! Check out the little sweetie here.

Mesa Lakes Colorado

My sister Lisa is in town. and we wanted to go visit my brother in Denver, so we found a half way point (6hrs from SLC and 4hrs from DEN) and met up for a bit of camping. Mesa Lakes is soooo beautiful! Our campsite was shady and surrounded by pine trees. We were 15 feet from the lake so we had a great view. I would highly recommend camping there!

There was this awesome little hike/walk with this stone wall covered in chipmunks. Everyone would bring sunflower seeds to feed them and they would eat them right out of your hand. Another family was nice enough to give Lizzie some seeds to feed them.

For Adam's birthday party this year we had a little pool party/BBQ at the Jorgensen's! I love birthday parties! We are officially on the wait list! Our Dossier arrived in Ethiopia on July fourth and now we are officially waiting for a referral. I can't tell you how excited Adam and I are! For those of you not in the adoption world, a referral is when we see our sweet baby's face for the first time and get a brief history on how they came to be an orphan, as well as a brief health history. Another family that is with our agency got a referral after two and a half months!!! See their cute baby girl here We are number #14, so we will let you all know as soon as we get a referral!!!

Last weekend I ran the Wasatch back Ragnar. It is a 191 mile relay from Logan to Park City. The teams are made of 12 people running 3 legs each. I ran with an all women's team. We were the "Dozen Delusional Divas!" It was really, really fun I would definitely do one again. It is just so fun cheering everyone on and driving around to all the stops. It was really cool to look around at all the vans logos. A lot of them were decorated for specific causes, one of my favorites was "Saving Bryan's Privates: It's all fun and games until someone loses a nut."

Adam and I celebrated our 3rd year anniversary last week! Yippee 3 years of fun, fun, fun! I got home from a trip to roses and a delicious dinner! Adam cooked me up some delicious curry chicken and naan (Indian food is my favorite) and homemade cookies and cream ice cream for dessert! Yum yum yum! Anyone who knows Adam knows how truly lucky I am! I love you so much sweetie! The pic above is us in our new shades, we got as anniversary gifts.We went and got chocolates too! The chocolate covered raspberries and bananas are my favorite!
Ok and we discovered something interesting, Luna loves roses! She was eating them like crazy! It was so funny and strange because she doesn't like ANYTHING but cat food. It was very peculiar to see her rip off a strip then chew it right up.

Ogden Marathon

Today I ran the Ogden Marathon. I would highly recommend it, it was absolutely beautiful. The first 24 miles were in the canyon, we ran along side a rushing river passed lakes, horses, went through tunnels and all the while it was extremely scenic the mountains and trees were beautiful and it was perfect weather! (The above pics at the half way point!)

Dresser Redo

I have had this old dresser forever so I decided to redo it so that I could have a cute dresser in my guest bedroom. First I sanded it and painted it white. Then.....

I sanded it and roughed it up. Adam cut lines in the front of the middle two drawers with a table saw to make it look like it had more than one drawer. It was very plain and I wanted to add something to make it not so boring. Then I put a glaze in the cracks and slightly across the entire surface to give it an aged look. I used Ralph Lauren Faux glaze in black. Then I added the hardware. Hardware is on sale at Hobby Lobby this week for 50% off! And TaDa! I know I go a little crazy on the sanding, and roughing up!

Ok so I've been looking for awhile for a small sofa table or shelf to put against the wall in between our two bedrooms. I wanted something to decorate but everything I've seen has been way out of my price range. So last night while Adam and I were in S. Jordan I said lets go to the D.I. (local thrift store) and see if they have any furniture I could redo for that wall. And what did I find..... a hundred year old sewing machine! I got so excited I couldn't believe it! I happen to be a big antique fan any way. I just can't believe anyone would give this beauty to the D.I. The drawers are pretty beat up, which made Adam a bit reluctant. But i was like babe this is awesome! This thing is from 1907!

Denver for the weekend

My sisters and I all flew out to Denver for a weekend to visit Michael, Lisa Jane and Lizzie. It was a total blast hanging out and seeing their adorable new house. It was so fun to play with Lizzie, she is getting so big. It made me miss my other three sweeties in Albuquerque but luckily I'll be seeing them in June! The girls did one of our favorite things and went antiquing. Here are some pics from our trip.

Belize 2011

A few weeks ago we got back from Belize! We visited our friend Kib in San Ignacio for a few days, then drove to Placencia a beach town a few hours away. Here are some of our pics!

This is a little shop in San Ignacio that had delicious desserts! mmmm..... The food in San Ignacio is so delicious. We lived on fresh fruit juice and burritos.

These are Kibs neighbors. They are all so sweet!

This is a cave we visited that you canoe through. The cave was used in Mayan times to worship. They would sacrifice young girls in the cave and it was considered a great honor to the family. A shelf in the cave had 28 skeleton on it.

Outside the cave was a sweet little spider monkey named Mango. I brought it an orange so it immediatley loved me. She clinged to me and when I tried to pass her to adam she started biting his head.

My favorite Christmas tradition..... Christmas Bingo! This pile of gifts extended the width of my grandmas long kitchen table. 25 people times 4 gifts each = an evening of entertainment, laughter and greed. Everyone brings one gag gift and this year we had some real doozies....

It worked out perfect and gave us a good laugh that the newly engaged couple picked this gag gift out of the pile.

And this was the topper, a note in a wrapped gift indicated this little prize was awaiting uncle Kelly in the closet.

I love this time of year. It snowed all day! I'm glad it was Sunday so we could just hang out. We put up our Christmas tree and I made some delicious cinnamon cookies. It was so pretty out we decided to take some pictures of the temple. That's the nice thing about being so close, half a block walk and we're there.

The lights are so pretty. Sadly they keep cutting back so it seems like each year there are less and less.

My friends Lindsey and Ryder got married and I got to be a bridesmaid! It was totally fun! She looked so beautiful. Isn't her dress amazing?! Only a size 2 could pull that off!
They were surprised when an awesome vintage car showed up to take them to their hotel. Too bad it overheated and broke down in the parking lot as they drove off. Haha it reminded me of our wedding, my sister left with the keys to my car after decorating it. We got to hang out with the clean up crew til she showed up.

St George Marathon

I guess I'm crazy cause I did it again. Adam, Connie, and Abby came to support me and we had such a fun weekend. We were able to stay in a friends condo down there, which was way better than last year when Adam and I slept for about 3 hours in the back of Connie's car. We got in late friday night so they didn't get much time with me before I was limping. The marathon was beautiful and is so amazingly well organized. It was hot! By the end I was melting! It was great to have family at the finish line. Thanks guys!
And this is the reward I got. Two huge blisters! I swear I didn't even know I had them until I took my socks off in the car on the way back to the condo. I said "oh, my feet are sore" so I had everyone's attention in the car. Adam, Abby, and Connie were staring at my feet as I peeled my socks off and I heard a horrified squealing from the back seat, then Connie said, "oh it's like a red gummy candy!"
I've never had blisters like these. I guess this is why they say break in your shoes. Mine were only a few weeks old.

Cruise with Melissa

Last week my best friend Melissa and I went on a Cruise! We went to Catalina Island and Ensenada! It was perfect timing since Adam has been studying like crazy for the boards. Here we are with Los Angelos and The Queen Mary in the background.

Catalina Island was beautiful, I would love to go back and spend a few days. We rented a golf cart and drove all around the island.

This is an old casino/theater. The architecture was amazing I loved the houses.

In Ensenada we went shopping for a few hours and called it a day. There wasn't as much to do so we decided to go back to the boat and hang out at the pool.

Party, party we would dance after dinner in the dining room. it was a blast here is a pic with our waiter.

cruise

For Adam's spring break we went to fort lauderdale for a cruise! It was my first cruise and I loved it. We went on Crown Princess and traveled to Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Princess Caye, and Roatan, Honduras.

In Cozumel we rented a scooter and went around the island. We decided what we really wanted to do was swim with dolphins. So we went to Chankanaab national park. We got to do a "belly ride" where you hold on to the dolphins fins and it gives you a ride through the water on it's belly. We also got to have the dolphin push us through the water by our feet, while we held on to a buggy board. And we got a kiss, hug, handshake and a song! It was my favorite visit of the cruise!

In Roatan we went to the beach enjoyed fresh coconut and saw an old ship wreck.

In Grand Cayman we swam with sting rays in the ocean and went snorkeling, the water was crystal clear.

I loved our ship it was beautiful and there was so much to do! Movies under the stars on a big screen, karaoke, big band dancing, the newly wed game, bingo, comedians, and fabulous shows.

The food was awesome. We couldn't help ordering and finishing several deserts!

It was an awesome vacation! And the best part was being with my sweetie!

Memorial day in midway

We went to midway to go to a natural hot pot we'd heard of. On the way we came across these amazing ice castles. They were awesome tunnels that you could walk through. when we past by after the hot pot it was dark and they were all lit up. They were really cool. Were defiantly going to go next year

The natural hot spring was awesome it was like you were in a steamy cave. we were wishing we had brought snorkeling gear because you could dive down and look at the rock formations. It was something like 60 ft deep there were a lot of scuba divers. It was so fun! especially when it's all snowy outside.

This is our little Halloween kitty Luna. We got her at five weeks old. She is so fun!

A few things she absolutely loves are Christmas trees, soda caps, grocery bags, sitting on shoulders, ramen noodles, plants or flowers, plush blankets, watching animal planet, giving high five, climbing people, and shoe laces!

I ran the St George marathon in early October. I was really proud of myself, seeing as I wasn't even going to do it. I didn't feel ready. A week before I went on a double date with a friend. Her boyfriend was running it and talked me into it. Those last miles were really hard, but overall it was really fun. Especially sleeping in the car the night before!

FLAGSTAFF

We went to Flagstaff for out family vacation in August. I had to take the opportunity to show off my cute nieces and nephew! This is princess Katie in her birthday dresses. It was so fun to see how excited Katie and Paul were when they got their new dress ups from gma and gpa.

Flagstaff was so beautiful and such a great vacation spot there was tons to do. We went to some natural water slides they were so much fun. The kids loved them, especially Averi. By the end she was passed out on Matt's shoulders sleeping on his head. It was precious.

This was our delicious meal, BBQ bacon burger and onion rings. It was way good, from the book burgers, milkshakes and fries. Yum yum I would highly recommend, although we couldn't have dipped all those onion rings with out Aaron and Chelsey's help.

Adam came with me to San Diego for an overnight recently. We had soooooo much fun! It was such a busy day. First we grabbed some subs and took a ferry over to Coronado. Once we arrived we rented this funny little bike cart. We drove it around the "island" and stopped at the beach for a while. Coronado was so cute and quaint. The houses look like little beach bungalows. After we spun around town for a while we grabbed some ice cream and headed back on the ferry. Then we took the train down to old town. We walked around the shops and found this cute little candy shop with chocolate covered honey comb, yum! We shopped a bit then headed for dinner to this delicious mexican restaurant. It was such a fun filled day! "nonstop" fun!

The Ranch

we went up to Adam's Grandparents cabin (aka "the ranch") last month for a weekend. It was a way fun trip we went boating during the day and in the evenings we played games, played basketball and shot BB guns (i got a new pink one from Connie Thanks!) It was so beautiful up their it was so green and serene! It looked just like something out of a painting. Adam, Kerry, and I were able to go for a bike ride and it was so gorgeous!

Adam turned 26 on monday (7/27) so to celebrate we went to Disneyland! It was so much fun! You get in free for your birthday so we decided to go for the day. We ran around like crazy and were so exhausted when we got back to our hotel we just crashed. My favorite ride was indiana jones and Adams was space mountain. We spent a hot 2 hours in the sun waiting for splash mountain (our biggest mistake.) But we spent over 12 hours in the park so we were able to do all of the big rides. We still didn't see it all so we will have to go back for my birthday! yay!

We had so much fun with my niece Lizzie in Denver. We went and saw the movie "up," took her to the toy store, went to the butterfly museum, saw some deer, played, played, and played! she is definitely a busy bee. Here are some cute pics.

I've been crafting. I made the above frame for a friends birthday, she went to San Diego.
This frame I sold at a benefit for Brittneys Battle.

This one I made for our engagement picture.
I have also been making soldered jewelry. It is really fun and way cute. I made this necklace for my friend Marys birthday. The best part about these necklaces is that you can put any picture in them from your favorite Disney character to a family picture. I also like to add charms.

Silver Lake

MOOOOOSE!!! I was so excited to see this cute sopping wet moose. He was so adorable.
We stopped by silver lake today with the family after dropping Annie off at Brighton. It was so beautiful the colors were absolutely gorgeous. It had been raining so it was misty and just picturesque. And we spotted a moose!

Here is my cute family on the spooky dock. Who knows what was lurking below. I felt like any moment we might be visited by the creature from the black lagoon.

Carrot Cake recipe

MMMM........ Carrot Cake. I got this recipe from a friend and decided to try it. It was delicious!
I used macadamia nuts and toasted coconut on top yum!

4 eggs
3/4 cup canola oil
1/2 cup applesauce
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
3 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
3 cups grated carrots
1 cup chopped pecans (or any nuts)
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 cup butter, softened
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
4 cups confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped pecans

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan.
In a large bowl, beat together eggs, oil, sugars and 2 teaspoons vanilla. Mix in flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Stir in carrots. Fold in pecans. Pour into prepared pan.
Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.
To Make Frosting: In a medium bowl, combine butter, cream cheese, confectioners' sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Stir in chopped pecans. Frost the cooled cake.

Happy 1st Anniversary in Omaha

Over our Anniversary I had to work. So Adam came with me. We stayed in Omaha. It was a ton of fun! Matt and Lisa (and Hobbes) are going to be moving here in a year. Matt got into Creighton and will start there for his second year of dental school (his first year is here at the U). So it was fun to see the city where they will be living. We walked around the "old market" part of town. It was full of restaurants and cute little shops. There was also a beautiful park/river running through town that was fun to see.

We went to a cute little bakery to celebrate our anniversary and ordered 4 desserts! I know we went a little overboard, right? But we had to have it all! A peanut butter cookie, key lime mousse pie, extremely rich chocolate napoleon, and delicious coffee cake. Lisa we'll come visit you any time as long as you take us here!

Here are some cute pictures of me and my grammy. The one below is zions 2005. We had a wonderful trip to celebrate a wonderful person. I love my Grandma she is one of the most inspiring people and is definantly my hero.

Memorial Day trip to Albany, NY

Over Memorial day weekend I had to work a trip. So i took Adam with me. We walked around Albany and went to the New York State museum. This was such a fun trip I worked with one of my favorite flight attendants ever, Michael. I swear we were laughing the whole time. It was an awesome trip and Adam got a lot of studying done on the plane ride. The picture above is me, Michael, and Jestine (one of the sweetest FA i've ever worked with.)
